A drug-dealing Connecticut gangster was sentenced to 14 years in federal prison this week for his part in a racketeering conspiracy that included involvement in five shootings.

Federal prosecutors said Devon “JB” Suggs, 20, of New Haven, was a member of a group of drug dealers who called themselves Exit 8 because of their association with the area around Exit 8 off Interstate 91.

Authorities said gang members committed at least three murders, tried but failed to kill 16 others, stole cars that they used to commit crimes and then bragged about it on Facebook and other social media platforms.

CT gang member found with fentanyl, crack, gun used in homicides. He got over 9 years in prison.

Suggs pleaded guilty in February to racketeering conspiracy charges, admitting his participation in five shootings in New Haven between 2021 and 2023. Specifically, he admitted that two victims were shot in a leg, another was shot in the leg and torso, a fourth was shot in the back and the fifth was shot in the head but lived.

Suggs and others in his gang were charged as the result of an investigation by a task force of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.

He also was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Victor A. Bolden in New Haven to three years of supervised release.
