Honourable Prime Minister and former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh wished Team India before the Paris Olympics 2024. On Friday, July 26, the Indian contingent took part in the Parade of Nations during the opening ceremony of the quadrennial event in Paris. Badminton star PV Sindhu and evergreen table tennis player Achanta Sharath Kamal were the flag-bearers for the Indian team.

The Indian team arrived at the venue to a rousing reception from the crowd. During this while, Yuvraj and PM Modi took time out to send their wishes for the upcoming showpiece event. Yuvraj, who won the 2011 World Cup and 2007 T20 World Cup, backed India to put their best foot forward in the Olympics.

‘Never give up’

“As the Paris Olympics commences, my best wishes to the Indian contingent. Every athlete is India’s pride. May they all shine and embody the true spirit of sportsmanship, inspiring us with their exceptional performances,” PM Modi wrote.

“To our fellow athletes representing India at the Paris Olympics – remember that your hard work and dedication have brought you this far, and now it’s time to show the world what we are made of. The entire nation is cheering for you. Never give up and give it your all!” Yuvraj wrote.

India have sent a 117-member contingent for the Paris Olympics. India’s campaign in Paris starts with rowing where Balraj Panwar, who will be making his debut, will take part in the singles sculls heats.

Thereafter, the shooters will be in action, followed by the men’s doubles match where Rohan Bopanna can be seen. India will also take part in badminton, Hockey, Boxing and Table Tennis. Back in 2021, India won seven medals in the Tokyo Olympics, and they will be looking to put in a better showing this time around.
