The Boomers’ Olympic campaign is off to a great start with an impressive win over Spain in their opening Group A match in Lille.
Australia led from the very start, with star trio Josh Giddey, Jock Landale and Patty Mills all impressive in the 92-80 win.
Landale neared a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds to lead his teammates on the box score, with Mills (19 points, including 3-6 from the perimeter) and Giddey (17 pts, 8 assists, 8 rebounds) trailing close behind.
Guard Jack McVeigh made a huge contribution off the bench with 13 points for the Boomers, while Spain’s Memphis Grizzlies star Santi Aldama led all scorers with 27 points.
