In the latest episode of “People by WTF,” host Nikhil Kamath engaged in a conversation with Ranbir Kapoor. Kapoor delved deep into his personal and professional life, discussing milestones, challenges, and the surprising commonalities between him and Kamath.

In a recent podcast, the actor delved deep into the complexities of his love life, offering a rare glimpse into the personal toll of constant media scrutiny. Kapoor has often been painted with a broad brush, labelled a “Casanova” and a “cheater” due to his past relationships with prominent actresses. However, he insists that this portrayal is far from accurate. He described spending nearly four years in New York City during his early twenties, a period devoid of romantic entanglements. Instead, he was captivated by a high school sweetheart, whom he considered the love of his life at the time.
The actor admitted that subsequently dating two highly successful actresses inevitably amplified his public persona. The media’s relentless focus on his relationships became a significant part of his identity, overshadowing his professional achievements. Despite the constant speculation and rumours, Kapoor emphasized his reluctance to discuss private matters publicly. He expressed empathy for those involved and asserted that his intention was never to cause harm.
“When I started, I was always regarded as this playboy guy, who was just dating actresses. Let me tell you- I was in NYC for three years nine months – from 2000 to 2003. I didn’t date one girl. I was always an aashiq… So, I made myself believe that my first girlfriend in school when I left for New York, even though I was not with her, I made myself believe that she was the love of my life. And now it’s over, let’s just focus on work. Of course, I dated two very successful actresses and that just became my identity. That he is a Casanova. I was labelled a cheater for a very large part of my life and I still am. I don’t care about it because it’s not entirely true. People don’t know the entire story and I would never speak about somebody like this in public because it’s very private thing. But things were spoken about and if it makes that person happy. I don’t have any conflict with that person,” Ranbir Kapoor added.
One of the most talked-about relationships in Bollywood history is that of Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. Their on-screen chemistry in the 2008 film Bachna Ae Haseeno ignited a real-life romance. However, their relationship ended in 2009 amid rumours of infidelity on Kapoor’s part. Padukone later publicly acknowledged the breakup on the popular talk show Koffee With Karan.
Following his separation from Padukone, Kapoor embarked on another high-profile relationship with Katrina Kaif. Their romance, which began on the sets of Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani in 2009, was the subject of intense media attention. The couple was often photographed together on vacations and even lived together at one point. Their engagement was widely speculated upon, but ultimately, the relationship did not culminate in marriage.
