Fayette County schools officials won’t describe or answer questions about an item that was removed from the July monthly school board meeting agenda.
Board chairman Tyler Murphy initially said at the July 22 meeting that an item called “Midland Station Pilot Agreement” would be pulled from the agenda and discussed in closed session with action afterward.
Then Superintendent Demetrus Liggins said “that item will not be discussed in closed session. We’d just like to table it until the planning meeting next month for action.”
No details were provided about the Midland Station Pilot Agreement at the meeting,
“It was tabled because there is nothing to report at this time,” district spokesperson Dia Davidson-Smith told the Herald-Leader. “Nothing to share at this time.”
A Herald-Leader reporter sent an email to Liggins and school board members asking why district officials were not providing a basic description of an issue on an agenda for a public meeting.
They had not responded by Saturday morning. The Herald-Leader has filed a Kentucky Open Records request to get more information.
