WARWICK − A pedestrian was dead and a woman was seriously injured Sunday night after a hit-and-run on Quaker Lane, according to Warwick police.
A witness told police that the 26-year-old woman had stopped her vehicle and was checking on the 44-year-old man after she had hit him near 709 Quaker Lane, said Warwick police Capt. Charles Boisseau.
After that, someone in a dark-colored Jeep Cherokee, hit the woman and ran over the pedestrian, killing him, according to the preliminary finding of an investigation, Boisseau said.
The hit-and-run driver, who remains at large, faces criminal charges, he said, adding that police appreciate any helpful information that the public can provide.
The emergency brought police to the scene at 9:39 p.m., he said.
Boisseau said police would withhold the identity of the man who died pending notification of kin.
