David Dhawan recently shared his memorable experience of working with Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan on the hit film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. Known for his unconventional methods, Dhawan’s on-set collaboration with Bachchan offered an interesting peek into the filmmaking process of that era.

Amitabh Bachchan, an actor celebrated for his dedication to scripts and preparation, found himself adapting to Dhawan’s more spontaneous approach. In a conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Dhawan recounted how he would hand over Bachchan’s dialogues on a folded piece of paper, an unusual practice for the meticulous actor. “Bachchan saab would tell me… I would give him the line on a folded paper. He would say show me the rest. I would tell him this is yours, this is all you have to say,” Dhawan recalled with a laugh.
Bade Miyan Chote Miyan starred Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda in dual roles. The film also stars Ramya Krishnan and Raveena Tandon. Released in 1998, the film revolved around Arjun and Pyare, two officers from the same police station, finding themselves in a surreal predicament. Their lives take an unexpected turn when they become the prime suspects in a series of high-profile crimes. The twist? The culprits are their doppelgangers.
