The time of day when we welcome you to our live coverage.
It’s Day 4 of competition in Paris. My name is Chris Paine, and I’ll be your host alongside Rob Harris and Chloe Saltau.
While we bask in the afterglow of that thrilling 200m final (onya, Mollie and Arnie), we brought you news earlier that the men’s triathlon has been postponed.
That’s because of ongoing concerns over the levels of the pollution in the Seine. Stinky.
In action today we’ve got the Boomers back on the court to face Canada at 9.30pm (AEST). They looked sharp against Spain, particularly the combination between Josh Giddey and Jock Landale. And a fella by the name of Patty Mills.
A few other things to keep your eyes on through the day, including a couple of genuine gold medal chances, before we return to the pool:
- Tennis returns to Roland-Garros from 8pm. Alexei Popyrin is up against Stan Wawrinka.
- At 11pm it’s Jess Fox. This time it’s the canoe slalom, the event she won gold in at Tokyo 2020. As if you’d forgotten. Final tomorrow.
- At 11.30pm, there’s a gold medal on offer in the men’s trap shooting. Aussie James Willett was first in qualifying.
- At 2.15am we could see gold for Simone Biles in the women’s team gymnastics. She’ll compete on all four apparatus.
- The women’s rugby sevens are chasing gold. First a semi against Canada, then the gold medal match kicks off at 3.45am tomorrow. Set your alarm.
There’s plenty more to come, including a stack of café au lait and a few more of those little French donuts at Paris HQ.
Let’s do this.
