The swimming program at the 2024 Paris Olympics is in full swing and stars from Team USA and across the globe are getting set for a huge day in the pool in the second session of the day on Wednesday in Paris.
In her signature race, Katie Ledecky took home gold once again, winning with 1500m freestyle in a time of 15:30.2. That’s a new Olympic record and the eighth best time of all-time in the event — all of the top 10 times belong to Ledecky. Its also the eighth Olympic gold medal for Ledecky, who now has 12 Olympic medals. The eight golds and 12 overall medals now have her tied for the most ever by an American woman.
Also making the medal stand for Team USA was Torri Huske, who was a surprise silver medalist in the 200m butterfly. Its her second medal of these Paris Games, after winning the 100m freestyle.

COVID-19 disrupts program for several swimmers
Multiple swimmers, including two members of Team USA have tested positive for COVID-19 at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The virus is not being treated the same as it was in 2021 at the Tokyo Games, but the two U.S. athletes have been sent to a hotel to quarantine away from the Olympic Viillage.
