40 firefighters battle blaze at vacant Montgomery commercial building – MASHAHER

Montgomery Fire Rescue fought a three-alarm fire Wednesday morning in a vacant commercial building.

The original call came in at 8:15 a.m. and sent units to the 2000 block of Upper Wetumpka Road where they found a vacant commercial building well involved in fire, said Assistant Fire Chief Stanley Cooper.

Due to the heavy fire load, a second alarm was called and additional units and personnel responded. An “aggressive” attack on the fire was conducted inside the building and with two aerial ladder trucks, Cooper said. Due to “the extreme heat,” a third alarm was called, Cooper said.

More than 40 MFR personnel responded and it took about two and a half hours to bring the fire under control, Coper said

The cause of the fire is under investigation and there were no reports of injuries to fire personnel or civilians, Cooper said.
