The director revealed that it took six years to develop Vedaa due to his commitments to other projects like Abhay Pannu’s Rocket Boys and Mumbai Diaries. I was looking for someone to play Vedaa when Sharvari came to my office and heard it. John and I worked hard on the script. We worked hard on the action. Most people still say that I should make Kal Ho Naa Ho again. So for me to do what I was able to do with D-Day and take it one step further In terms of the action. But most importantly I think we really worked hard on the script.”

Addressing the inherent risks in filmmaking, Advani acknowledged the challenges of creating a contemporary film that resonates with audiences. He said, “There is always risk. If I make the second part of Kal Ho Naa Ho today, people will be like what is this 6 din ladki in? People will be like what is this? A woman is standing there and two men are discussing that she is yours in one life and she will be mine for the rest of 6 life. So in today’s time, everything is a risk. Everything has to be thought about. You have to keep a lot of things in mind, but having said that, it should not stop you from telling stories you want to tell.”
