Akshay Kumar, Fardeen Khan, Ammy Virk, Aditya Seal, Pragya Jaiswal, and director Mudassar Aziz attended the trailer launch of their comic caper Khel Khel Mein at a multiplex in Mumbai. The event was a hilarious one, but it started on a moving and lovely note when Mudassar Aziz got teary-eyed while praising Akshay Kumar.

Mudassar Aziz was asked about the lessons he learned from Akshay Kumar. He said, “I was 19 and in my second year of engineering when I went to see a film called Hera Pheri (2000; which starred Akshay Kumar). This was a time when Govinda’s films used to work a lot. He used to do certain types of comic capers. Comedy existed at that time, and it was really good. I remember telling one of my friends as we walked out of Hera Pheri, ‘Yeh bande ne comedy change kar di hai. He has changed the game’.”
Mudassar revealed, “Zindagi ka ittefaq dekhiye. My last film Pati Patni Aur Woh (2019) released. Akshay sir called me after watching it. Very few people know this story. He told me, ‘Beta, maine teri picture dekhi. I was expecting something from your film. Lekin tune definition badal di’! For a boy who grew up watching Akshay Kumar comedies, to hear that, (it was like life coming full circle)’.”
Mudassar Aziz further said, “As for what I learned from Akshay Kumar on the sets, well, the learning never stops. Main batata hoon maine Akshay Kumar se kya seekha hai. I learned from him that when the temperature drops to 6 degrees and if your gums are bleeding, tab bhi comedy ki timing nahin chhootni chahiye! I learned from him that no matter what anyone says, you show up and you do the job. You make people laugh. If anyone has a grudge against anyone, that person cannot do comedy. You need to have a smile on your own face in order to make other people laugh.”
Akshay Kumar was so touched that he came on stage and hugged his director.
Khel Khel Mein releases in cinemas on August 15.
