Simone Biles and Suni Lee dazzled audiences at the 2024 Paris Olympics with their performance and leotards on their way to winning gold medals.
Who made the uniforms for the pair and what inspired them?
The leotards were created by apparel company GK Elite Sportswear based out of Reading, Pennsylvania.
Founded in 1979 the company focuses on making gymnastics apparel and partners with the best teams in the world including the United States, Canada, Australia, and the Netherlands. The U.S.-based company also designs and makes its apparel at home.
Biles’ leotard is called Luminous Legacy and has 10,000 exclusively made crystals, some of which are colored majestic blue and others a siam, made to be reminiscent of the night sky. The bodice has a star-spangled design on the bodice with crystals lining the sleeves in a stripe pattern.
Both uniforms feature Swarovski crystals from the famed jeweler.
Lee’s uniform is called USA Elegance and has a vibrant red and navy color design on its body. It’s adorned with 5,000 crystals which represents Lee’s competitive fire with its shaped diamonds and crystal flames that form into a sublimated mesh bodice with a lace pattern that transitions to the back. The uniform is also a nod to Parisian fashion designs
