The Yankees‘ series opener against the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night will not start on time due to rain.
After about 30 minutes, the team announced an approximate 8:30 p.m. start time.
First pitch was originally scheduled for 7:05 p.m. but the rain and thunder in the Bronx came through hard and fast.
Marcus Stroman (7-5, 3.64 ERA) is looking to keep the Yankees’ winning streak going as he goes up against Kevin Gausman (9-8, 4.44 ERA).
Friday is also the home debut of Jazz Chisholm Jr., who was traded to the Yankees last weekend.
In his four games with the Yankees, Chisholm is 7-for-19 with four home runs and eight RBI. He was also in the middle of the Yankees’ impressive three-game sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies earlier this week.
A win on Friday will push the Yankees’ winning streak to six games.
