3 arrested after ‘large amounts’ of explosives, drugs found in KC home – MASHAHER


KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Three people were arrested Friday morning after deputies with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office recovered large amounts of illegal explosives and drugs inside a Northland home.

According to deputies, shortly after 7 a.m. Friday, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force issued a search warrant at a property near North Hickory Street and NW 64th Terrace in Kansas City, Mo.

After searching the home, deputies found:

  • 107 pounds of explosive powder

  • Two pipe bombs

  • 15 grenades

  •  20 grams of fentanyl paste

  • 15 grams of meth

  • Psychedelic mushrooms

  • Seven guns, including an Uzi

  • A large amount of ammunition

It was also reported that an elementary school-aged child was inside the home at the time. However, deputies said the child is now staying with relatives.

The three individuals who were arrested are 46-year-old Cory D. Young, 32-year-old Erika Lahr and 52-year-old Tammie L. Bindel Cole.

Young and Lahr are both being charged with delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm and child endangerment. Young is being held on a $350,000 cash-only bond, and Lahr is being held on a $250,000 cash-only bond.

Cole is being charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm. She is being held on a $150,000 cash-only bond.

According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Young, Lahr and Cole could face more federal charges related to the explosives and weapons as the case continues to be investigated.
