Paris Olympics 2024: Google adds flower widget to celebrate athletes’ achievments – MASHAHER

Google has been swept up in Olympics fever, coming up with a new way for fans to support their favourite athletes.

Whenever a user googles an athlete competing at the Games, a bouquet of flowers widget will appear on the screen.

If the widget is clicked, it will throw digital flowers to the athlete in Paris.

If that athlete has won silverware, a medal icon will float to the top of the screen with the full details of their achievement.

The widget even tracks how many digital flowers have been sent to individual competitors with Australia’s BMX racing star Saya Sakakibara having received more than 180k after winning gold on day seven.

The popular search engine has also been updating its logo daily to celebrate a feature of the Games.

Today, you can see a bird performing a series of flips on a beam and receiving a score of 10 from a cat.

Australia currently sit third on the official medal table with 11 gold medals and 22 overall.

China are the only nation with more medals, having won 13, while host nation France has also won 11.

Cameron McEvoy and Kaylee McKeown in the pool, as well as Sakakibara, all lit up the Parisian night on day seven, adding three gold medals to Australia’s tally.
