Fifth-ranked Canada was knocked out of the women’s Olympic basketball tournament in Paris with Sunday’s 79-70 loss to Nigeria in the final group-stage game for both teams.
The Canadians, who dropped all three of their matches in France, needed to beat Nigeria by 10 or more points in combination with a victory by France over Australia later Sunday to advance to the knockout round.
