Coming off a game that was perhaps closer than Team USA would have liked, the women’s national basketball team now turns its attention to Germany for the closing game in Pool C group play. Before pulling away from Belgium in an 87-74 win, the U.S. held just a seven-point lead at the 5:45 mark of the fourth quarter. Breanna Stewart and A’ja Wilson combined for 13 points in the closing minutes to help lift Team USA to a 57th-straight Olympic Games victory.
Two-time WNBA All-Star Satou Sabally leads Team Germany, which, also at 2-0, has already qualified for the quarterfinals. Sabally is averaging 25.0 points per game in the tournament so far and scored 33 in Germany’s win over Canada on Thursday.
