The 2024 Paris Olympics continued on Sunday and it was one of the more eventful days for the Americans as they raked in medals in a slew of events and drew even with China with 19 golds. The most anticipated finish — the men’s 100-meter final — delivered in a big way, with USA’s Noah Lyles eking out a gold medal in a photo finish over Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson.
Novak Djokovic finally got the gold medal he’s been craving throughout his career in a men’s final showdown with fellow star Carlos Alcaraz. On the golf course, Scottie Scheffler delivered some Sunday magic with a 9-under in the final round to overcome Tommy Fleetwood (silver) and Hideki Matsuyama (bronze).
The U.S. had a strong final day in the pool, with Bobby Finke setting a world record in the 1500-meter freestyle to keep a century-old streak alive and the women’s 4×100 medley team touching the wall for its own world record.
