Nearly two dozen new principals will lead El Paso schools in the three largest districts for the 2024-2025 school year.
The El Paso Independent School District will welcome 15 new principals, while the Socorro Independent School District and the Ysleta Independent School District will bring on a handful more.
“We are thrilled to welcome our new principals who will undoubtedly bring fresh energy and innovative ideas to their campuses,” said El Paso ISD Superintendent Diana Sayavedra. “We can’t wait to see the positive impact our new leaders will have as we embark on this journey together.”

Maribel Ruiz, Austin High School
Ruiz brings a wealth of experience in educational leadership and is dedicated to fostering a positive and inclusive school culture.
Daniel Montoya, College Career Technology Academy
Montoya aims to continue the tradition of academic rigor, student achievement, and college career readiness for our most at-risk students.
Cyndi Ponce, San Jacinto Adult Learning Center
Ponce will focus on providing adult learners with the skills and knowledge needed for success in their personal and professional lives.
Elena Montero, Nolan Richardson Middle School
Montero brings fresh ideas and a commitment to educational excellence.
Rodolfo “Rudy” Diaz, Wiggs Middle School
Diaz plans to build on the school’s strengths and promote a positive learning environment.
Martha Martinez, Dr. Josefina Tinajero PK-8
Martinez brings her extensive and award-winning experience with PK-8 education to Tinajero.
Christine Miles, Charles Q. Murphree PK-8
Miles is familiar with the Murphree community and excited to return to the Coronado feeder pattern.
Terry Montes, Archie Duran Elementary School

Jennifer Mata, Mesita ECDC

Socorro ISD new principal
Daniela Palmer, Capt. Walter E. Clarke Middle School
Palmer was an assistant principal at Montwood Middle School and Col. John O. Ensor Middle School. As a campus leader, she leads with heart and passion, working hard for students and empowering teachers.
Ysleta ISD new principals
Elizabeth Gonzalez, Del Valle Elementary School
Gonzalez was an assistant principal at Scotsdale Elementary School, and began her career in education in 2004 as a dual language teacher at Eastwood Heights Elementary School.
Valerie Hairston, Del Valle High School
Hairston began her career in education in 2005 as a science teacher at Ysleta High School. She’s also worked as a coach, assistant principal and principal in a neighboring district.
Marisa Holguin, Capistrano Elementary School
Holguin was a principal in the El Paso Independent School District and began her career in education in 2006 as an early childhood bilingual teacher in El Paso.
