TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The cab of a semi-truck became submerged early Monday morning in the Tampa Bypass Canal off Interstate-75.
Emergency crews are working to reach the cab of the truck, according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue. I-75 southbound is shut down north of the I-4 interchange, as of this report.
The truck lost control and ended up teetering on a guardrail over the canal at 2:35 a.m. About 15 minutes later, the truck tipped over and the cab became submerged in the water.
HCFR units and specialty teams are at the site of the crash. The number of people in the cab of the truck and the extent of their injuries is unknown.
