Repeat street takeover suspect arrested following police chase – MASHAHER


CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Charlotte police arrested a repeat street takeover suspect after he struck a pedestrian with his vehicle before fleeing back in July.

On July 13, officers responded to a Dodge Charger doing donuts in a parking lot off of Freedom Drive. During the donuts, the vehicle struck a pedestrian and fled the scene.

Vehicle towed, multiple citations after Charlotte street takeovers

According to police, the Charger drove recklessly onto I-485 and West Boulevard, speeding over 100 mph, weaving in and out of traffic and running red lights.

Officers attempted a traffic stop at Clanton Road. The suspect, later identified as 21-year-old Dekhole Figueiredo-Clark, continued to drive which resulted in the assistance of NC State Highway Patrol and CMPD’s Aviation Unit.

New street takeover laws are now in effect in North Carolina

The chase ended when stop sticks disabled the vehicle in the Steele Creek area.

According to the Mecklenburg County jail records, Figueiredo-Clark was arrested and charged with the following:

  • 2 counts of felony fleeing to elude arrest with motor vehicle

  • Misdemeanor failing to heed light, siren

  • Misdemeanor speeding

  • Aggressive driving

  • Misdemeanor reckless driving to endanger

  • Misdemeanor driving without a license

  • Displaying fictitious tags

  • Misdemeanor possession of marijuana up to 1/2 oz

His bail is set at a $25,000 secured bond

The Dodge Charger was towed for evidence and officers seized 25 grams of suspected marijuana from the vehicle.
