Sydney school teacher charged after alleged sex with student – MASHAHER


A teacher has been arrested at a school in Sydney’s south-west after police allege she had sexual intercourse with a male student under her care.

Police started investigating the alleged incident on Tuesday after receiving reports a female teacher had sexually touched a 17-year-old boy.

Teacher Tayla Brailey was arrested at a Sydney school.

On the same day, officers were dispatched to a school in south-western Sydney where they arrested 30-year-old Tayla Brailey.

She was taken to Liverpool police station and charged with sexual touching and sexual intercourse with a person aged 17 and under special care.

Brailey was refused bail and will appear at Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday.

A spokesperson for the NSW Department of Education said Brailey was suspended without pay while she faces the serious charges.

“The safety and welfare of students are our highest priorities. The department has strong policies and procedures in place to ensure their care and protection and to act when employees are alleged to have engaged in misconduct,” they said.

The spokesperson said support was being provided to staff and students who require it. The department’s Professional and Ethical Standards Directorate is liaising with police.
