Former Wild, Gophers Goaltender Signs in EIHL – MASHAHER


According to Coventry Blaze, former Minnesota Wild and Minnesota Gophers goaltender Mat Robson, has signed a contract in the EIHL. The Elite Ice Hockey League, also known as the British Hockey League in the United Kingdom.

Robson, 28, brings years of experience from the NCAA, AHL, DEL, ECHL, France and most recently was playing in Poland with Cracovia Krakow.

The 6-foot-3 goaltender was once a sought-after College Free Agent that Paul Fenton and the Wild signed to a two-year deal after he was named a finalist for Big Ten Goaltender of the year in 2018-19.

After playing just one year in the AHL with the Iowa Wild, Robson left for the German Hockey League. He posted a 11-10-7 record with a 2.97 goals-against-average and a .901 save percentage with Iowa in 2019-20.

Robson later signed a minor league deal with the Buffalo Sabres following his one year in the DEL. After a poor season in both the AHL and ECHL Robson left to play in France. He will now join his third team in the last three years and his third different league.
