HUNTSVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The District Attorney General of the 8th Judicial District announced on Friday that the New Tazewell Police Department had charged “three juveniles with being delinquent via Aggravated Rape in connection to an incident that occurred at Claiborne (County) High School.”
The charges were filed Friday, Aug. 9 and the district attorney, Jared Effler, stated in a news release that the matter has been investigated by New Tazewell Police with assistance from Tazewell Police and the county sheriff’s office. The teens are presumed innocent, Effler added, as the charges are “merely accusations and not evidence.”

Late last month, the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office said they were investigating a possible hazing incident at the high school, and school officials could not reveal additional details due to the investigation. Earlier this week, head football coach Nathan Medlin resigned on Monday amid the investigation; however, it was unknown if the resignation was directly related to the investigation.
The incident at the high school reportedly occurred on July 30.
