BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Rochester man was arrested Thursday following a police pursuit that culminated in a vehicle crashing into a building on Niagara Falls Boulevard, New York State Police announced.
Police said they were told to look out for a Nissan Rogue, which was allegedly being driven by 31-year-old Jazzmyn D. Barber, involved in a larceny complaint out of the Town of Niagara around 7:30 p.m. The Nissan was later located by police traveling south on Niagara Falls Boulevard in the Town of Wheatfield, and after attempting to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle allegedly failed to comply.
After the pursuit was terminated due to safety, the Nissan was located after it crashed into the Scottish Inns on Niagara Falls Boulevard near Arnold Drive.
Barber was later located by a NYSP K-9 unit, while a passenger in the vehicle who fled the scene was not located.
Barber was charged with third-degree unlawfully fleeting, second-degree reckless endangerment, driving while intoxicated – drugs and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operator. He was turned over to the Town of Niagara Police Department for additional charges in connection with the alleged larceny.
An investigation into the situation remains ongoing.
