Akshay Kumar is currently navigating a challenging phase in his career with a string of box office underperformances. As he gears up for the release of his comedy-centric film, Khel Khel Mein, scheduled for August 15, the actor opened up about an unexpected source of inspiration for his high-octane action sequences.
Akshay Kumar reveals taking inspiration for action sequences from Tom and Jerry: “It is unbelievable to see the kind of action they have”
In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Akshay and his co-star Fardeen Khan were engaged in a light-hearted conversation. When Fardeen expressed his fondness for the classic cartoon series Tom and Jerry as a comedy, Akshay surprised everyone with a different perspective. The action star revealed that he views the cartoon as more of a violent spectacle than a comedy, and more importantly, as a treasure trove of action choreography ideas.
“Tom and Jerry is not comedy, it’s violence,” Akshay declared. “Today I will tell you one secret. So many action scenes I have done, a lot of times I have taken it from Tom and Jerry. That whole helicopter scene, I took it from Tom and Jerry. Another idea I took was from National Geographic, but with Tom and Jerry, it is unbelievable to see the kind of action they have,” he added.
Khel Khel Mein, directed by Mudassar Aziz, also stars Ammy Virk, Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, Aditya Seal and Pragya Jaiswal. The film is facing a box office clash with Stree 2 and Vedaa.
