Northern Ireland rider Glenn Irwin crashed out in Sunday’s opening sprint race at the British Superbike Championship meeting at Thruxton.
Irwin, 34, was in third place early on lap one when he high sided off his Hager PBM Ducati after not appearing to make contact with any other bike.
The Carrickfergus man initially sat up and appeared to be talking to race marshals and was later able to step into an ambulance.
The sprint race had to be red flagged with Irwin – who finished 14th in Race One on Saturday – still sitting on the track when the riders approached for lap two.
The race was later re-started as a shortened 10-lapper minus Irwin and Ryan Vickers took victory ahead of Max Cook, who was earning his first podium position in the championship, with Danny Kent in third spot.
Josh Brookes, Billy McConnell and Christian Iddon completed the top sixth as series leader Tommy Bridewell was seventh and Irwin’s brother Andrew took 14th.
Glenn Irwin led the championship earlier in the season but is now in fourth spot, 38 points behind Bridewell.
Kyle Ryde is Bridewell’s closest challenger 27 points off the pace, with third-placed Iddon a further point adrift.
