A fire that broke out Saturday west of Redding has forced evacuations and several road closures in the historic community of Shasta and nearby areas. Too, Highway 299 is closed in both directions while firefighters try to bring the fire under control.
The fire broke out in the area of Lower Springs Road and Eureka Way in Shasta. As of 7:30 p.m. Saturday, the fire had grown to 110 acres.
The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office has ordered much of the community of Shasta to evacuate. Evacuation warnings also are in effect further west and north in the Keswick area. For a map of evacuations, click here.
The following roads are closed to traffic:
