Another reason for us to keep rooting for this former Tiger!
Joe Burrow is already a legend in Louisiana, but now he’s cemented his legacy with a charitable gift that will make a huge impact in the lives of local students.
The former LSU quarterback turned NFL star just announced that through his Joe Burrow Foundation, he will be donating nearly 30,000 meals to schools in three cities. Why nearly 30,000 meals? Because over his many years in the game, Burrow always wore the number nine on his football jersey, so he and Kodiak decided to donate 9,999 Kodiak meals to schools where kids are facing food insecurity.
The Foundation, which Burrow runs with his parents Jimmy and Robin Burrow, picked three locations that were particularly meaningful to him: Athens, Ohio, where he grew up, and his mother worked as the principal of a local elementary school; Cincinnati, Ohio, where Burrow plays football for the Cincinnati Bengals. The final location is Baton Rouge where Burrow played for years as an LSU Tiger, earning the Heisman Trophy, college football’s most prestigious award, for his incredible efforts there.
“This partnership with Kodiak provides a great opportunity for the Joe Burrow Foundation to expand our efforts in promoting healthy breakfast options. I’m grateful for Kodiak’s commitment to provide nutritious meals to families in each of the communities that I have called home,” Burrow said in a press release announcing the donation.
Kodiak products will be supplied to students in Baton Rouge through the Three O’Clock Project, a nonprofit organization that works throughout Baton Rouge to help kids and families in need access healthy, nutritious food.
