Metro Boomin and WWE Cody Rhodes Are Buddy Cops in New Bad Blood Video – MASHAHER

Metro Boomin and WWE Champion Cody Rhodes both have had banner 2024s so far. Super-producer Metrohas scored two No. 1 albums with Future (“We Don’t Trust You” and “We Still Don’t Trust You”). Coincidentally, less than a week before the latter project came out in April, Cody had back-to-back career defining nights at the biggest WrestleMania in history. Although he was pinned by the Rock on night one, he won the title Czar Roman Reigns (the Rock’s younger cousin), who was in the midst of a years-long championship run.

The pair have united for a new video promoting WWE’s Bad Blood event, taking place at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena on Oct. 5. In the clip, the pair are featured in buddy-cop mode, “staking out” the venue. Metro laments that the two of them have to sit in a “broke down car” and asks the famed grappler if they’ll have to sit there until October. Cody, who’s hometown is Atlanta, affirms Metro’s fear while looking at State Farm through binoculars.

Metro tells Variety, “As a lifelong fan of the WWE it was an honor to work with the legend and undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes on bringing the iconic Bad Blood back home to Atlanta, Georgia,” he says. “Cody’s story is inspiring to me, as I’m sure it is to millions of others and I’m very excited for October 5th so the world can see what we’ve been cooking up!”

WWE has a long history of incorporating music stars into their events. Just last week, Jelly Roll sang and beat people down in the ring at the Summer Slam PLE. MGK also got physically involved in a match. While it is still unclear exactly what Metro will be doing at “Bad Blood,” Cody has teased that we may see more figures from hip-hop culture participating.

“Atlanta has always influenced culture. We are still Badstreet USA,” Rhodes tells Variety. “Morehouse College brought Metro to Atlanta at a young age and he’s carried the baton for Atlanta ever since. ‘Bad Blood’ could be the biggest Premium Live Event since WrestleMania and we have some surprises in store for the city.”

Of course Atlanta hip-hop and wrestling have a had a strong connection for decades. ATL was the home of World Championship Wrestling which used to tape it’s programming there and air on Ted Turner’s Atlanta based station TBS. Many of your favorite MCs from Cee-Lo Green, Ludacris were tuned in at some point growing up and even as adults.

The “Badstreet” Cody refers to is a nickname given to the city by wrestling WWE Hall of Famer Michael Hayes who captained the Atlanta faction. Rappers such as Killer Mike and Outkast have given props to Cody and his late father, the beloved “American Dream” Dusty Rhodes in song and in person.

No matches have been announced for “Bad Blood” as of yet, but WWE fans have been speculating that besides Cody defending his belt in the city he still lives in, we will see some sort of clash of Roman Reigns and his real-life cousin Solo Sikoa.
