FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — While some Triad students are enjoying the end of summer, others are getting ready to return to school on Monday, specifically Winston-Salem/Forysth County Schools.
Adrienne Moses and her 13-year-old daughter Avi enjoyed one last free Friday.

“The kids were saying they were excited but also kind of nervous about it,” Moses said.
Moses is a teacher at Southeast Middle School where her daughter also attends. She’s already preparing for new policy changes this school year, beginning with an earlier-than-normal first day of school.
Thankfully there’s a two-week grace period for families that pre-planned a vacation.
”Normally we would start school two weeks from now but families were able to indicate whether or not they would be doing that,” Moses said.
A new cell phone policy is also going into effect in all WSFC schools. Elementary and Middle School students must have their phones off and kept away.
Meanwhile, High School students can use them during lunch.
“I don’t see any problem with it. I think it gives kids the chance to rest their brains and having to focus,” Moses said.
Additionally, the school system will increase the frequency of random metal detection for up to five days in each middle and high school, something Moses is thankful for.
“I think it’ll bring a lot of accountability and hopefully keep students from bringing things they’re not supposed to bring,” Moses said.
Parents will also be able to take advantage of a new school bus app to track their child’s route.
You can learn more about that on the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools Edulog Bus Portal.
