I Asked Women To Anonymously Share If They’re Voting For Kamala Harris Or Donald Trump — Here’s What They Revealed – MASHAHER

Hello, everyone! With three months until election day, we’re back for another round of BuzzFeed’s 2024 Election Diaries!

This bi-weekly series highlights different groups of voters nationwide to find out what political issues are most important to them AND who they plan to support for president in 2024.

Since our last round, the 2024 election has had a significant change. President Joe Biden officially dropped out of the 2024 race…

…and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to replace him as the Democratic nominee.

Now Harris is set to run against former president Donald Trump and his running mate, J.D. Vance, in the upcoming general election.

Following this history-making matchup, we decided to ask women to share their views on this election and who they’re planning to support for president.

Our poll received hundreds of responses from women all over the country, with 86% of respondents expressing support for Kamala Harris for president.

2.“I am voting for Kamala Harris because, as Vice President, she has exemplified empathy and compassion, traits sorely lacking in our former president. Regardless of the election outcome, I am committed to leading my students with empathy and compassion.”

“However, it’s significantly easier when our president’s policies and rhetoric are not steeped in hate. As a teacher, I am particularly invested in seeing stronger funding and support for public education, NOT the dismantling of the Department of Education.”

3.“I’m voting for Trump/Vance because I feel they can create a plan to secure our border. Many border crossers are good people trying to escape extreme poverty and corruption, but many others are drug smugglers, human traffickers, and others who place no value on human life. I also have a very large family and support.”

4.“Climate change is my #1 issue. Otherwise, the future will be grim no matter what we do if change comes too late. I’m voting for Kamala because she is relatable. She is not playing to exaggerated fears, hate, racism, sexism, or tribalism. She is not a convicted criminal. She is joyful and positive.”

5.“My preference would be RFK Jr., but independents never win, so that would be a wasted vote. The Trump/Vance ticket is terrifying. There is no way I would ever vote for Trump. So that leaves Harris. Her pick for VP helps. I don’t like her and don’t think she is particularly qualified.”

“I’m hoping she has a good cabinet to advise her. It really has been a process of elimination for me in this election. Who is the lesser of all evils? I wish the Democrats would have had an opportunity to vote for their candidate.”

6.“The economy is the most important issue to me. My feelings for Trump as a person don’t influence my feelings for his ability to do a good job. I own a business. I have a family. We can’t take another four years of democratic policies.”

7.“My top priority is electing a sane person who will govern America with dignity. Kamala is the most qualified person running to govern appropriately. My feminist side says, ‘Yah! A woman president, finally!’ but that is NOT the reason for supporting her.”

“I like that she is not a ‘downer’ person; she is positive and hopeful and (I believe) will be able to better unite America. Trump loves division and will gut American democracy. Harris will strengthen our global reputation, set a better example, and do more for the American people.”

8.“Women’s rights and inflation are my top issues. I think Walz has been a fantastic governor for my state. He shows he really cares about education, reproductive rights, and the mental well-being of the citizens of Minnesota.”

9.“Upcoming wars and tensions really concern me. I’m not super happy about voting for Trump, but I’m sick and tired of not being able to afford groceries. World War 3 also seems to be very much a thing, and I don’t think the Democratic party can handle the tension or scrutiny. I don’t believe they can or will protect us.”

She knows how to fight for those things. I believe she learned a lot working with President Biden and has gained valuable experience on the global stage.”

11.“I’m voting for Kamala because everyone else on the ballot is unhinged. Sadly, the bar is pretty low. Kamala has actual experience in government; she believes in bodily autonomy and supports Israel’s right to exist and defend itself while also criticizing Netanyahu’s policies, which is important to me.”

13.“Donald Trump and J.D. Vance’s dystopian straight white male wet dream society cannot become a reality. We have fought and worked too hard for our rights and freedom. We are not going back. I personally may never vote Republican again. The party has become unrecognizable.”

14.“I used to be a staunch Republican. I even recall saying, ‘Obama is not my president.’ Well, now I would do anything to have him back! I am voting on policy, not a candidate, although I like Harris and Walz. My number 1) is body autonomy, and my number 2) is the separation of church and state. The Republican Party has lost its way. I do not want my government determining my level of medical care options, and I absolutely do not want my government dictating religion.”

16.“Women’s rights being taken away are my top issue. Kamala has a fresh vision for the future; she knows women’s issues, is intelligent, is well-spoken, and is looking to the future and talking about the issues at hand and not belittling and backstabbing opponents! I also feel it’s time for a woman to be president! The good ole boys’ club needs to see what women are capable of!”

18.“Moving the US forward is my top priority. Kamala Harris is a proven, joyous, brilliant leader who has what it takes to guide this country out of the recent dark times, develop new ideas, and execute those ideas effectively and efficiently. She is not afraid to challenge the far right and can find a way to restore the sadly untrustworthy Supreme Court. Go, Mrs. HARRIS and Tim!”

20.“While I don’t agree with everything on the Democratic platform, at this point, even considering the Republican Party feels like complete insanity as an LGBTQ+ woman. The concept alone of Project 2025 is terrifying. While I have the resources to leave the country, not everyone has that privilege if human rights take a turn for the worse. I will be voting and encouraging as many others as possible.”

And finally…

22.“It is 2024, and it’s unbelievable that ‘women’s rights’ have to be a political topic. Why are we even still debating this? Women deserve the right to their bodies. As a young woman who has suffered from infertility, with IVF being my only option to grow my family, I am terrified of Republicans signing my rights away. The government should have no say in my body. Those conversations and decisions happen between me and my doctor.”
