Bollywood fans are gearing up for a blockbuster showdown this Independence Day, as Akshay Kumar and John Abraham prepare to face off at the box office once again. On August 15, Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham’s Vedaa are set to hit the big screens.
Khel Khel Mein vs Vedaa: Akshay Kumar on clashing with John Abraham at the box office: “It’s not a big deal”
Addressing the much-anticipated clash, Akshay Kumar, in an interview with News18 Showsha, downplayed any rivalry, emphasizing the camaraderie he shares with John. “Yes, we’ll be working again, hopefully soon. We’re very good friends. We’re close buddies. Clashes at the box office keep happening. It’s not a big deal at all,” Akshay remarked. He further added with a chuckle, “It’s just a clash and not a slash.”
For those unfamiliar with their history, this is not the first time Akshay and John’s films have gone head-to-head at the box office. In 2018, Akshay’s Gold and John’s Satyameva Jayate were released on the same day. The following year, their films Mission Mangal and Batla House both premiered on Independence Day. Despite these instances of competition, the two actors have maintained a close friendship, with Akshay’s comments reiterating that box office clashes are simply part of the business.
Akshay Kumar and John Abraham have also shared the screen in the past, co-starring in the hit Bollywood comedies Garam Masala (2005) and Desi Boyz (2011). They were last seen together in Sajid Khan’s comedy film Housefull 2, which further solidified their bond.
Vedaa, directed by Nikkhil Advani, features John Abraham in the lead alongside Tamannaah, Sharvari, and Abhishek Banerjee. The film is produced by Madhu G Bhojwani, Monisha Advani, John Abraham, and Minnakshi Das.
Meanwhile, Khel Khel Mein promises to be a star-studded affair with Akshay Kumar leading a diverse ensemble cast that includes Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, Ammy Virk, Aditya Seal, Pragya Jaiswal, and Fardeen Khan. The film is backed by T-Series, Wakaoo Films, and KKM Film Production.
With both films set to release on the same day, audiences are in for a treat as they choose between two of Bollywood’s biggest stars. Whether it’s the gripping action of Vedaa or the thrilling drama of Khel Khel Mein, this Independence Day is shaping up to be a memorable one for Bollywood fans.
