Longtime Huntsville Pediatrician dies at 58 from glioblastoma – MASHAHER


HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Dr. Charles “Chuck” Horton passed away on August 4 after fighting glioblastoma for 16 months.

Dr. Horton was well-known around the community as a pediatrician for over 27 years. He was a managing partner at Twickenham Pediatrics, the Chief of Pediatrics at Crestwood Medical Center and the Chair of Pediatrics at Huntsville Hospital.

Dr. Horton’s wife, Melea Horton, described him as a quiet but kind-hearted man who always did the right thing.

Born and raised in Huntsville, Dr. Horton touched the lives of thousands of children and families in the area. It’s also where he raised his two beautiful daughters, Maggie and Laura.

Dr. Horton attended Auburn University for his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees and was a die-hard Auburn fan.

Memorials can be sent to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation, benefiting Pediatrics, or the Auburn University College of Sciences and Mathematics Dr. Charles R. Horton, Jr. Endowed Memorial Scholarship.
