NEW DELHI: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s new chief of staff, Josh Kettler, has quit suddenly after barely completing three months. When Kettler was appointed earlier this year, it was said that he was the perfect man to ‘guide him (Harry) through his next phase’ into his future endeavours.
‘Josh Kettler is no longer working with them,’ a source told Dailymail.
In a major blow, this report comes days before the Sussexes embark on their “quasi-royal” tour around the South American country.
Kettler, a well-known Public relations professional, was seen in May during Prince Harry’s visit to London to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games. He was also seen at St Paul’s Cathedral with the duke for the anniversary services which was also attended by Earl Spencer, Harry’s uncle. Later that month, Kettler was seen with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s three-day tour of Nigeria during which he attended meetings with government officials in the World African country.
The list of prestigious quitters includes Bennett Levine, manager of Sussex’s TV company Archewell Productions, who quit at the beginning of the year. Ben Browning the Oscar-nominated producer also quit as head of internal content at the company in January last year.
Since their marriage in 2018, the Sussexes are reported to have lost at least 18 staff members, with nine or more leaving since they moved to California in 2020.
A former staff member told the Daily Mail that during their time working for the couple, they never heard any current or former employee say they would take the job again if given the chance. These were not just random hires; many were highly skilled professionals with experience working for demanding bosses in top companies.
One of the staff members who left is believed to be American and had previously worked for a medical equipment manufacturer called Cognixion. Additionally, it was reported in April that Meghan Markle had struggled to find a CEO for her new cooking and lifestyle business, American Riviera Orchard, despite interviewing several candidates. Meghan hopes the brand, which will focus on home, garden, food, and lifestyle products, will be very successful.
On Thursday, Harry and Meghan are set to begin a four-day tour of Colombia, visiting the capital Bogota, the historic city of Cartagena on the Caribbean coast, and Cali, where they will attend a cultural festival. They are visiting at the invitation of Colombian Vice-President Francia Marquez, who said the couple will have a special opportunity to engage with elders, youth, and women who represent the hopes and voices of Colombians, and highlight Colombia’s role as a leader in culture and innovation.
Harry has previously stated that he believes Britain is too dangerous to visit with his wife and their two children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3, after their taxpayer-funded security was withdrawn when they stepped back from royal duties.
