Shatrughan Sinha addressed up about his support for his daughter, actress Sonakshi Sinha, and her desire to marry Zaheer Iqbal. Sonakshi and Zaheer were married in June. The couple held a small wedding ceremony, followed by a joyful reception. While it was initially reported that Shatrughan was against the marriage, the actor-politician denied the allegations. He also became her cheerleader at her wedding.
Shatrughan Sinha defends daughter Sonakshi’s marriage; says, “This is about their happiness”
In an interview with IANS, Shatrughan wondered who would support his daughter and her life decisions if he did not? He said, “This is a matter of marriage… Secondly, if the kids got married, it is not illegal and unconstitutional. They did it with their own wishes and our blessings. So I appreciate it. Who will stand with my daughter if I don’t… My wife Poonam Sinha and I, got together to celebrate her wedding. This is about their happiness.”
He thinks Sonakshi and Zaheer are a match made in heaven. “Parents will always stand for their children’s happiness and I feel that our children are happy. I call them made for each other, and we are very happy for them,” he said.
Sonakshi and Zaheer dated for seven years until they married on June 23, 2024. Sonakshi shared images from the wedding and said, “On this very day, seven years back (23.06.2017) in each others eyes, we saw love in its purest form and decided to hold on to it. Today that love has guided us through all the challenges and triumphs… leading up to this moment… where with the blessings of both our families and both our gods… we are now man and wife. Here’s to love, hope and all things beautiful with each other, from now until forever ❤️ Sonakshi ♾️ Zaheer 23.06.2024.”
She also shared heartwarming photos of Shatrughan and Poonam from the wedding.
