Dodge County kayaker is still missing from Green Lake: Here’s the latest – MASHAHER

FOND DU LAC – A 44-year-old man is still missing after he didn’t come home from kayaking on Green Lake.

The Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office began the search at 5:34 a.m. Aug. 12 after Dodge County Sheriff’s Office had advised the communications center he had not returned home from Green Lake the previous night, according to the initial news release from the Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and Bruce’s Legacy Search and Recovery assisted the search with boats.

During the search, officials found an unoccupied, overturned kayak with a life jacket attached, as well as the missing kayaker’s vehicle near Dodge Memorial Park.

The search was suspended around 8 p.m. Aug. 12 and resumed Aug. 13.

According to an Aug. 14 update from the Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the boats have searched with sidescan sonar and underwater drones in the suspected area while a sheriff’s office drone unit searched from the air. The Aug. 13 search was suspended around 4 p.m.

As the search continues, the drone unit will continue to search from the air and officials will continue searching the deepest water of Big Green Lake once the appropriate resources are available.
