Giants Injury Notes: Malik Nabers’ ankle injury ‘nothing serious,’ Evan Neal returns to team drills – MASHAHER

The Giants were back on the practice field on Tuesday as they continue to prepare for Saturday’s preseason bout with the Houston Texas.

Before practice began, head coach Brian Daboll offered a few injury updates:

Malik Nabers, diagnosed with a minor ankle sprain, went through full testing and is “good,” with Daboll saying the injury is not a “long term” issue and is “nothing serious.” Nabers may not practice fully on Tuesday, but it sounds like the No. 6 overall pick will be just fine.

In fact, Nabers met with the media after practice, saying he was feeling “good” and that there was “no doubt” he’d be ready for Week 1.

– Daboll had some good news and bad news about the offensive line. On the positive side, both Evan Neal and John Michael Schmitz will participate in team drills. Neal has been ramping up since coming off the PUP list following offseason ankle surgery, while Schmitz was dealing with a shoulder injury.

– Meanwhile, guards Jon Runyan Jr. and rookie Jake Kubas both left Monday’s practice with shoulder issues, with Daboll saying that Runyan will be held out of practice for the day. With Runyan down, Aaron Stinnie will likely get the reps at first-team left guard, while Greg Van Roten will continue to see reps at right guard.
