Second-largest gift in Penn State athletics history will go toward Beaver Stadium renovations – MASHAHER

Penn State’s $700 million Beaver Stadium renovation project has received a boost through what the university called a “keystone gift.”

The athletic department announced Wednesday it received a $25 million donation from the Misitano family and PAM Health — the second largest the department has ever received.

Anthony Misitano, the founder of Enola-based company PAM Health, called the chance to contribute to the project an honor.

“As lifelong Penn Staters, we’ve had the privilege of building relationships with many coaches, student-athletes and University leaders,” Misitano said in a press release. “As this project began to take shape, we recognized how important the revitalization of Penn State’s iconic landmark is to those people, the University, this Happy Valley community and the state of Pennsylvania. This initiative is essential in maintaining Penn State’s status as one of the nation’s elite institutions, and we are proud to support it.”

He and his family have been season ticket holders since 1978, and also has season tickets for men’s basketball and men’s hockey.

Penn State athletic director Pat Kraft thanked the family for their donation in a statement.

“The Misitano family has a long history with Penn State Athletics and has been unbelievably supportive of a number of sports programs, and this tremendous Founders Gift is another example of their devotion to Penn State,” Kraft said. “Words cannot express the appreciation we have for the Misitano family and PAM Health for their commitment to be leaders in this important project to make Beaver Stadium even more iconic than it already is.”

The Penn State board of trustees in May approved spending up to $700 million in renovations for Beaver Stadium, the first major renovation of the facility in 25 years.

The West Tower, which is part of the project and will be home to a University Welcome Center, will be named to recognize the Misitano family’s gift, according to a news release.
