Either Gold Coast or Melbourne can keep its season alive for at least another 24 hours as they meet to begin Round 23’s Super Saturday.

Both the Suns (10-11, 100.5%) and Demons (10-11, 97.9%) entered the weekend mathematically in the finals race, though they would need a miraculous set of circumstances to unfold in order to qualify for the finals.

More realistically, both sides are playing to end their season on a high note, with Gold Coast hoping to post its first winning season in club history.

Each side has made just the one change for the clash, with crucial midfielder Touk Miller returning for his first game since Round 17 in place of the omitted Alex Sexton.

For the Demons, last week’s late out Jakey Bowey replaced the injured Clayton Oliver, who won’t play again in 2024.

The game gets underway at 1:45pm from People First Stadium.

Watch it live on Fox Sports 503, streaming on Kayo and via Hubbl, from 1:30pm.

GOLD COAST vs. MELBOURNE — LIVE UPDATES

There were no late changes for either side, with David Swallow (Suns) and Jake Melksham (Demons) named the starting substitutes.

Nick Holman kicked the opening goal of the afternoon from a set shot, before Sam Flanders snapped Gold Coast’s second to establish an early buffer.

Melbourne responded, however, with goals to Daniel Turner (two) and Jacob van Rooyen.

A goal after the quarter-time siren from the Suns’ Alex Davies tied things up at 3.2 (20) at the first change.

The sides continued to go blow-for-blow in the second term, while Melbourne’s Tom Sparrow was substituted out of the game with an ankle injury. Jake Melksham is into the action.
