Directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and featuring adorable performances from Kriti Sanon, Ayushmann Khurrana, and Rajkummar Rao, the film brought a refreshing twist to Bollywood romance, capturing the essence of small-town India with a delightful mix of sweetness and spice. As the film completwes seven years of its release, the filmmaker reminisced the days of shooting it and penned an emotional note.

The filmmaker took a trip down memory lane and shared several photos of her with the lead actors of the film, captured in candid moments. Along with it, she shared an emotional caption that read, “7 years #Bareillykibarfi Gratitude for the love”. She dedicated the note to her mother and added, “And specially for you Amma, the cinema lover. I made Bareilly ki Barfi when the kids were 5 years old. But with Your insane confidence in me and telling that there is no reason to feel guilty to follow your dream. “I am there “ Your words gave me the wings to follow the unknown path. Now when i look back there are so many anecdotes that i will savour always. I hope I continue to tell stories from the heart and make you proud”.
About Bareilly Ki Barfi
Loosely based on Nicolas Barreau’s novel, ‘The Ingredients of Love’, the film revolves around a tomboyish girl who wants to fall in love and an alias author and heartbroken lover. Also featuring Pankaj Tripathi and Seema Pahua in key roles, the film received immense love from audiences along with a hit music album composed by the team of Tanishk Bagchi and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy as many songs like ‘Sweety Tera Drama’ and ‘Nazm Nazm’ turned out to be chartbusters. It also went on to win several accolades including two Filmfare Awards for Best Director and Best Supporting Role (given to Rajkummar Rao).
