GOTTA SEE IT: Video Goes Viral of Tailgate From Devils’ 1995 Stanley Cup Final – MASHAHER

In 1995, Toy Story made its big-screen debut, TLC was one of the top musical acts, and the New Jersey Devils were in the battle of their life for their first Stanley Cup.

The Devils swept the Detroit Red Wings, winning their first championship in front of their fans at Meadowlands in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Goaltender Martin Brodeur made 14 saves on 16 shots, and Claude Lemieux was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as the most valuable player of his team during the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Over the weekend, a Devils fan uploaded a clip of VHS footage from the tailgate before Game 4 to social media.

The 1:12 clip brings nostalgia for simpler times before social media. Decked out in Devils gear, fans in the video were seen rollerblading through the parking lot and working on festive face art. Hot dogs were consumed, drinks were had, and laughs were shared as they anxiously awaited one of the most memorable games in the team’s history.
