The astounding success of Stree 2 has made it clear to all of us in the industry and in the trade, that there are no more holy cows left. Actors with the wrong prices are liabilities. Actors who only know how to act, but do not know how to sell tickets, or be an asset to the producer, are white elephants. Actors agents, who demand ridiculous prices for their stars with absolutely no logic, no figures, no research, no data to back that price up are pure poison and destructive forces!
There were some rules for pricing in the old days, let the newbies and their agents go back in time and learn a little bit of film history! When star prices were based on the ratio of the price per territory that distributors were willing to pay. Hence different pricing for a Dharmendra film, and different pricing for a Vinod Mehra film, but both actors sold profitably. And these became norms and there was stability and prosperity! Now there are new mediums which recover more than theatrical revenue so new rules. Sure!! But rules, not whims, arrogance or stupidity!!
As for me, I don’t teach actors how to act or how to give good performances! I teach them how to give PROFITABLE performances regardless of directors or the material! Ask SRK! And many many others, who I have requested to keep me anonymous!!
Meanwhile happily putting up gross collections instead of net, and muddying the water is a very clever ploy. Astounding success I guess, is not only the film, but also the wily machinations. Full marks there! We never thought that we were in a lily pond, we always knew it was a swamp!
