Knoxville Avenue will be reduced to one lane of traffic traveling each direction near Pioneer Parkway beginning on Monday, Aug. 19.
The Illinois Department of Transportation is beginning a construction project on Knoxville Avenue that will replace medians and islands at the intersection of Knoxville Avenue and Pioneer Parkway.
Work is expected to be completed in October, according to IDOT. Drivers should expect delays in traffic and are encouraged to seek an alternate route when possible, IDOT said.
The work at the intersection is the second project to start this summer involving Pioneer Parkway. A $9.1 million reconstruction project has begun on Pioneer Parkway near the intersection with University Street. It is expected to last until late 2025.
