The much-awaited film Stree 2 has gone beyond expectations at the box office. It opened on a historic note and thanks to a great word of mouth and repeat value, it remained rock-steady over the weekend. The humour in the writing has been appreciated but what also worked for the film was its menacing villain, Sarkata. In this special feature, Bollywood Hungama will throw light on the actor who essayed the role of this villain.
EXCLUSIVE: Meet Sunil Kumar, who plays Sarkata in Stree 2; is 7.6 feet tall and is called ‘The Great Khali of Jammu’
Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learned that Jammu-based Sunil Kumar is the one who featured in Stree 2 as Sarkata. He is known as ‘The Great Khali of Jammu’ though, interestingly, he’s taller than Khali. While The Great Khali is 7 feet 1 inches tall, Sunil Kumar’s height is 7 feet 6 inches. As per reports, he’s a constable in Jammu and Kashmir Police and he also indulges in wrestling. In fact, his ring name is ‘The Great Angaar’.
Earlier, Sunil Kumar also played handball and volleyball, and he secured a job in the police department under sports quota. He also participated in WWE Tryout in 2019.
The end credits of Stree 2 mention Sunil Kumar’s name. Bollywood Hungama exclusively spoke to director Amar Kaushik about this actor. When asked how he was locked in for Sarkata, he said, “The casting team found him. We wanted a man with such a height and he fit the bill.”
Amar Kaushik further said, “We used his body shots while the face of Sarkata was generated through CGI.”
Besides Sunil Kumar, Stree 2 also stars Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee. It features Akshay Kumar, Varun Dhawan and Tamannaah Bhatia in cameos. Stree 2 is the sequel to Stree (2018) and is a part of Maddock Horror Comedy Cinematic Universe. The other films in this series are Bhediya (2022) and Munjya (2024).
