The CCTV footage shows an intense and sudden gust of wind, along with rain, sweeping across a waterside street outside the Baia Santa Nicolicchia restaurant located at the Santa Flavia bay. Outdoor furniture and plant pots are then seen strewn across the road as the weather lulls.
The violent storm is believed to be the cause of a luxury yacht sinking off the coast at sunrise, the coast guard said. It said one person had been found dead while six passengers were still missing, adding that they were of British, U.S. and Canadian nationality.
The coast guard named the yacht as the ‘Bayesian’, which was built by Italian shipbuilder Perini in 2008.
