ALOR SETAR: Thirteen people have been arrested in connection with an attack, which left a car washer dead and a security guard injured in Bedong on Aug 15.
Kedah deputy police chief Deputy Commissioner Adzli Abu Shah said the suspects, aged between 19 and 40, were nabbed after an intelligence operation was conducted.
“Those detained have been remanded until Aug 23,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (Aug 20).
DCP Adzli said further investigation found eight of the suspects had multiple prior criminal and drug records.
Police also seized a car, two motorcycles, 13 mobile phones, two helmets, shirts and two sets of keys.
Preliminary investigation found that the security guard was attacked by five men on motorcycles and armed with machetes at the junction to Kampung Toh Pawang.
The suspects then went to a car wash in Taman Seri Mentari Bedong, about 2.7km away, and attacked the second victim.
The police are investigating the cases under Section 302 and Section 326/148 of Penal Code.
DCP Adzli said the police are still conducting investigations, including efforts to identify and locate any individuals suspected of being involved in this incident.
He urged witnesses and anyone with information on the incident to contact the authorities.
