(FOX40.COM) — The body of a father who tried to save his son from drowning in the American River was recovered by searchers on Monday, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.
Zabillah Haliqyar, 38, was last seen going under the fast-moving waters of the American River on Sunday near No Hands Bridge in the Auburn State Recreation Area.

His body was located downstream from where he was last seen and retrieved with the help of the CAL FIRE Technical Rescue Team and a California Highway Patrol Helicopter.
A bystander helped Haliqyar’s son out of the water and is recovering.
