“Fourth Wing” publisher Liz Pelletier and former Crooked Highway president Sherryl Clark have launched Premeditated Productions and set a three-year first-look TV and film deal with Amazon MGM Studios.
With the launch of Premeditated, Pelletier, the CEO and founder of “Fourth Wing” publisher Entangled Publishing, will license Entangled’s extensive back catalog to her and Clark’s new production company for film, television and gaming. Bad Robot vet Clark (“Cloverfield,” “The Gorge”) will oversee the studio, fielding Premeditated projects across film and television.
Best known for Rebecca Yarros’ mega hit romantasy “Fourth Wing” and its sequel “Iron Flame,” published by Entangled’s imprint Red Tower Books and currently in the works as a TV series at Amazon, the U.S.-based indie publisher’s other notable titles include Hannah Nicole Maehrer’s “Assistant to the Villain” (set up at Legendary), “Five Broken Blades” by Mai Corland, “Heavenbreaker” by Sara Wolf, “The Wren in the Holly Library” by K.A. Linde, Tracy Wolff’s “Sweet Nightmare,” and “69 Million Things I Hate About You” from Kira Archer.
“This first-look deal with Liz Pelletier and Sherryl Clark’s newly formed company, Premeditated Productions, is an exciting opportunity to solidify our relationship with Entangled Publishing, who brought us the immensely popular novel ‘Fourth Wing,’” Amazon MGM Studios head of wholly owned U.S. SVOD TV development and series. “We look forward to exploring additional groundbreaking projects and delivering exceptional content that will resonate with our global Prime Video customers.”
“Romance and fantasy have always been incredibly popular, but today we’re seeing the genre reaching new heights,” Pelletier said. “It’s the perfect time to launch a production company that celebrates these stories and gives our authors a meaningful seat at the table during film and television development.”
Clark added: “One of the things that drew me into this partnership with Liz was that all the books shine a light on strong female heroines. Our collaboration with Amazon will allow us to continue these stories across film, television, gaming, and beyond. We are thrilled that we have found a home with people who share our commitment to bringing these stories to life at the highest level.”
Entangled Publishing is repped by Independent Artist Group (IAG), which also repped Premeditated in the Amazon deal. Entangled and Premeditated is also repped by Caitlin DiMotta at Cowan, DeBaets, Abrahams & Sheppard LLP.
